Track Name: Waiting For A Sign
So was it all that you’d hoped for?
Was it the best you’ve ever had?
Somehow it hurts less to lose to the best,
At least then it makes some sense.

But say you’re not satisfied, I’ll be standing by.
I used to say that I’m okay, nothing could get me down.

But that’s a lie, I can’t deny it, you know its true.
That I never meant to lose but sometimes life gets in the way.
They say I better make a move before the days all pass me by.
But I’m waiting for a sign.

Yeah I guess I was a stupid kid,
Shooting for something I could never hit.
Yeah, I know I’m too familiar to be considered,
And it ain’t no fun just to play it safe.

But Janie take your time because I’ll be standing by.
I used to say that I’m okay, nothing could get me down.

But that’s a lie, I can’t deny it, you know its true.
That I never meant to lose but sometimes life gets in the way.
They say I better make a move before the days all pass me by.
But I’m waiting for a sign.

I used to say that I’m okay, nothing could get me down.
But that’s a lie, I can’t deny it, you know its true.
That I never meant to lose what I’ve held on to so far.
No, I’ll never make a move, life will only pass me by.
I’m waiting for a sign.

I’m waiting for a sign, you know that I can wait all night.
So I’ll keep on holding on,
at least, for a little while.
Track Name: Learn To Fly
Alone walking these city streets,
Feeling somehow incomplete.
Days go by, I blend in,
And I feel like I’m waiting for my life to begin.
You say its such a shame,
That we’re all so afraid just to make a mistake.
I wonder for the point of debate,
How do you choose which one to make?

So when the day comes to an end,
How do I get by and not pretend?
Baby, the world out there acts tough,
So where can I find some of your luck?
(You know I could use a little, baby)

How could I ever learn to fly? (Fly away with you)
How do I even begin to try when you’re so high?
How could I ever learn to fly? (Fly away with you)

So now you’ve settled in to your new life,
A little lonely but you look alright.
Sometimes you wonder how they stay sane,
You know, it’s no secret, we’re all so vain.
And even though things are going well,
You can’t help but feel a little underwhelmed.
It seems like everyone’s got a plan,
But you’re treading water just to make a stand.

So at the end of the day,
What you give is what you take away.
And I’m not asking for much this time around,
But pretty soon I’ll figure it out.
(You know I’m overdue, baby)

How could I ever learn to fly? (Fly away with you)
How do I even begin to try when you’re so high?
How could I ever learn to fly? (Fly away with you)
How could I ever learn to fly? (Fly away with you)
How do I even begin to try when you’re so high?
How could I ever learn to fly? (Fly away with you)

Tell me do I ever cross your mind?
It might happen from time to time.
Would you tell me if I crossed your mind?
But why would I ever cross your mind?

How could I ever learn to fly?
How do I even begin to try? (repeat)
Track Name: Uptown
Sirens shatter the night,
Young kids tearing it up, all right.
Yeah, I’ve never seen so many lights,
Somebody must’ve put up a fight.
But in an empty room,
Down the dark halls of abandoned schools,
You were busy breaking all the rules,
You tried so hard to be cool.

In this concrete slum,
Bone dry in the bitter sun,
Seemed like the place to have your fun,
Show your friends your brand new gun.
Yeah, you had no shame,
You didn’t care how you found your fame.
Hey, you know you can fake your name,
But some things, they just won’t change.

And as the choirs arrive,
Songs of abandon I can’t describe,
You never felt so alive.

Well did you do it out of fear? Or was it something more sincere?
Never mind the lies that grab you from behind.
Well there’s this ringing in my ear and I get this constant fear,
That if we don’t leave now we’ll never make it out.

Now you thought you were done,
The game was over and you had won.
You thought it’d never hurt no one,
To hedge your bets on the setting sun.
But now you wonder why,
It took so long just to get this high.
You used to feel so hungry inside,
What happened to all your pride?

And as the choirs arrive,
Songs of abandon I can’t describe,
You never felt so alive.

Well did you do it out of fear? Or was it something more sincere?
Never mind the lies that grab you from behind.
Well there’s this ringing in my ear and I get this constant fear,
That if we don’t leave now we’ll never make it out.

Baby, I’ve lost my ticket home
I forgot all the things I called my own.
Now I ain’t asking for a loan,
But sometimes you need a little more.

Well did you do it out of fear? Or was it something more sincere?
Never mind the lies that grab you from behind.
Well there’s this ringing in my ear and I get this constant fear,
That if we don’t leave now, we’ll never make it out.
Track Name: Rebel Lonesome
Rebel Lonesome, ain’t it a shame?
They carved out your features but never gave you a name.
Shattered visions from a streetlight’s stare,
Keep you running from your shadow like a fool lost in prayer.

So tell the man in gray who counts your pay;
There ain’t nothing left to lose,
When these six strings are calling your name,
Buddy, you know you can’t refuse.

Well you just sit here wasting time,
While the rest of the world, baby, walks on by,
You say that maybe you were born too late,
To show them what you could create.

Oh, Rebel Lonesome, ain’t it a shame?
There’s nobody here to listen to you sing about your pain.
Subtle whispers drift through halls so bare,
Staking claims for the righteous but you never got your share.

So tell the man in gray who counts your pay;
There ain’t nothing left to lose,
When these six strings are calling your name,
Buddy, you know you can’t refuse.

Well you just sit here wasting time,
While the rest of the world, baby, walks on by,
You say that maybe you were born too late,
To show them what you could create.

Well you just sit here wasting time,
While the rest of the world, baby, walks on by,
You say that maybe you were born too late,
To show them what you could create.
Track Name: Wheels
I’ve been down, I’ve been round here way too long.
You know I feel I’m wasting away.
It seems so vain to have to work so hard today,
Sometimes the best things only go to waste.

Lose your faith and they say you’ve lost your way.
God’s men, he did forsake.
Well baby, I tried - or maybe I’m just tired,
But I don’t see what he’s done for me.

Baby, it ain’t no crime to find some piece of mind.
Now, I ain’t looking for answers, I’m just asking for one more chance.
You know it’s tough.

I remember all the time we spent out on the run, maybe you do too.
I’ve spent my years trying to drown out all my fears,
And believe in the magic of these wheels.

Now and then I get a vision in my head,
Of riding out on this open road.
Silver screens and cinematic scenes,
I guess I’m nostalgic for times I never had.

Baby, it ain’t no crime to find some piece of mind.
Now, I ain’t looking for answers, I’m just asking for one more chance.
You know its tough.

I remember all the time we spent out on the run, maybe you do too.
I’ve spent my years trying to drown out all my fears,
And believe in the magic of these wheels.

I remember all the time we spent out on the run, maybe you do too.
I’ve spent my years trying to drown out all my fears,
And believe in the magic of these wheels.

I remember all the time we spent out on the run, maybe you do too.
I’ve spent my years trying to drown out all my fears,
And believe in the magic of these wheels.
Track Name: They Said I Skipped Town
Well, I took a hundred dollar bill,
Threw it in the river today.
Well, I watched that hundred dollar bill,
Watched it float away.
I said this little paper’s brought me nothing but trouble,
Somebody’s got to draw the line.
They say I blew my money because It wasn’t a friend of mine.

Well, Annie’s a straight shooter,
That much I can guarantee.
But Janie, she ain’t like that,
She knows just what she wants from me.
You know I ain’t one to turn down love but,
Hell, she made love a crime.
They say I left Janie because she wasn’t a friend of mine.

Oh, everybody knows its time.
Oh, time to live it right.
Oh, everybody knows its time.
Oh, time to live it right.

I put the pedal down,
Hit the open road today.
And I drove on past the house,
Where Janie and I used to stay.
I said it ain’t the same since I made my name,
Everybody wants a slice of this pie.
They said I skipped town because it wasn’t a friend of mine.

They said I skipped town because It wasn’t a friend of mine (repeat x3)
Track Name: Meet Me In The Morning
“So is this it?” she said. “Is this all there is?”
She said, “I can’t tell you where we are,
Or what it is that you’ve been looking for,
Or running from.”
I said I’ll admit that I don’t know
But I’ve got this feeling that we’re getting close,
Oh I suppose,
That somewhere out beyond this scene,
There’ll be a place where we can breath,
If we stay on track,
And we don’t look back,
Because I’m tired of waking up alone,
And drifting around here on my own.

Run away, run away,
Won’t you meet me in the morning?
We could hide out for a while.
So what do you say, we’ll run away?
We could sit and watch the sun rise,
God knows I can’t wait till then.

So I took all I could afford,
Figured I’d quit when I got bored.
And I drove all the way from St. Louis,
To see Santa Fe and all the miles in between.
I wish you’d gone with me.
We’d watch the sun slip below the Horizon,
Sit on the edge of a desert canyon just to feel alive.
Like we’d finally arrived.
Looking back it makes me wonder,
If I’d asked you then,
Would you have gone with me?
Took that ride with me?
Janie I think that you’d agree,
I could've used some company.

Run away, run away,
Won’t you meet me in the morning?
We could hide out for a while.
So what do you say, we’ll run away?
We could sit and watch the sun rise,
God knows I can’t wait till then.
Track Name: Desert Of A Thousand Suns
For the sunset warrior, a pyre gives rise,
And the brush burns red beneath the desert skies.
The dusty billows of acrid smoke,
There’s a fire in the engine,
Someone pulled the choke.

It’s rolling thunder through the days and nights,
Ain’t a moment passes without a fight.
Echoes ring out, bloodstains on the sand,
There ain’t a friend in this whole world,
But your chain of command.

Welcome to the desert of a thousand suns,
Where the heat beats down wherever it may fall,
There ain’t no pity, no justice for us all,
Only a man, just waiting there, to answer the call.

Daisy cutters on the mountain, a blow through the heart,
A land laid waste, another shot in the dark.
And when it’s all said and done,
You wonder, was it you who fired the first gun?

Welcome to the desert of a thousand suns,
Where the heat beats down wherever it may fall,
There ain’t no pity, no justice for us all,
Only a man, just waiting there, to answer the call.

They give you stars and stripes, 21 guns,
when they lay you down.
But there’s blood on the hands of the firing line,
You don’t hear a sound.

Welcome to the desert of a thousand suns,
Where the heat beats down wherever it may fall,
There ain’t no pity, no justice for us all,
Only a man, just waiting there, to answer the call.
Track Name: Is There Anyone Out There Tonight?
Man, I ain’t a hero, and I ain’t a saint,
But I’ll count my blessings before it’s too late.
The devil, Jesus, lord knows I can’t keep running away,
But as long as I’m running I don’t need a place to stay.

Is there anyone out there tonight?
This junkyard’s burning,
And we’re crawling on the edge of a knife.
And if you see a shadow cross through the fire-light,
Just tell me, If there’s anyone out there tonight.

They’re shipping off to a foreign land,
Where spent casings litter the sand.
Some say the Red White and Blue can’t withstand,
They blame it all on sleight-of-hand.

In the valley the wells have run dry,
Who’s to say we gave it our best try?
We blew out the mountain, turned the ground to dust,
But where are we now and what’s left for us?

Is there anyone out there tonight?
All’s quiet on every front but there’s no end in sight.
It may be radio silence, but it doesn’t mean there ain’t a fight,
So tell me, Is there anyone out there tonight?

Now there’s this two lane road ahead of me,
It goes for miles on through this desert but there’s nothing to see.
Except burnt out buildings, laced with diesel,
Remnants of time when it all came so easy.
Bandits patrol the underpasses,
I guess these roads just weren’t meant to last us.
They ambush at dawn, they raise their flags up high,
they tell you to fight for your life until the day you die.

Is there anyone out there tonight?
Babylon’s about to fall but there’s no one left to indict.
Its gonna get real lonely In our corner of paradise,
So tell me, will there be somebody out there tonight?
Track Name: Janie
Janie, what ever happened to you?
You’re worn down, gave them more than you really needed.
Janie, you thought you wrote all the rules,
An empty glass, seems you’re down to your last tune.
Didn’t you care about that?

Well now your Mom’s asleep, so you put on your best coat.
You take a hit, then you wonder just who knows.
And who’ll care about that.

What of all the times you swore that you would never,
Never surrender?

Now you talk about it like you know,
Even when it’s just for show.
The same old words that you used before.
Remember we said we wouldn’t steal from the beast,
But Janie, this life is only fit for thieves.

Champagne, you drink to level the score.
You got your money, never asked what they paid you for.
What did you think about that?
(Well now you) reach for a railing but the iron has rusted away,
Your bed of roses is just the devil’s bouquet.
But how would you know about that?

What of all the times you swore that you would never,
Never surrender?

Now you talk about it like you know,
Even when it’s just for show.
The same old words that you used before.
Remember we said we wouldn’t steal from the beast,
But Janie, this life is only fit for thieves.

Now you talk about it like you know,
Even when it’s just for show.
The same old words, that you used before.
Remember we said we wouldn’t steal from the beast,
But Janie, this life is only fit for thieves.

But Janie, this life is only fit for thieves (repeat x3)

Janie, what ever happened to me?
I’m worn down, gave them more than I really needed.
Well, how’d you hear about that?
Well Janie, this is my last confession.
Nobody’s perfect but I’ll do my best to finish.
I’ll write it out somehow.
Because at least, I can call it,
Oh at least, I can call it my own.
Track Name: The Last Waltz
Well you can tell all your friends about the things we used to do,
But it won’t make much difference, you know its true.
You got your medals, got your records on the wall,
But this time the dance ain’t so fine.

This is the last waltz along center stage,
Two desperate hearts caught in a fool’s parade,
It’s the end of the line for this great mistake,
So don’t look to me, I’ve got nothing to say.
I’ve got nothing to say.
I’ve got nothing to say.
I’ve got nothing to say.

For all those nights you cried as you said your prayers,
Still no man’s immune when temptation gets an honest share.
And what of our lives? We lived them day by day,
But once it’s gone, the song can’t go on.

(I tell you) We could reclaim the day
If you just meet me halfway.
There’s not a voice that can sing
What these angels can bring,
So don’t you throw it all away (throw it all away).

Well you can tell all your friends about the things we used to do,
But it won’t make any difference, you know its true.
